James and I always planned on getting a couple of goats (and chickens) when we moved out to the Farmette. We were lucky to already have decent fencing in place, as well as a makeshift shelter, but we kept dragging our feet trying to decide the right time to start adding to our brood.
Our home here on the Farmette was built in 1980. Not an “old farmhouse” by any means, but still an outdated 35+ year old home. The previous owner added on three rooms as well as several other… customizations. We knew renovations would need to be prioritized to fit the budget. A little paint and TLC went a long way to…
What is a farmette? Honestly, I’m not sure there is a widely accepted “official” definition. For me, it is a small farm- a few acres of fresh air with a functional garden and a couple of chickens running around. Our farmette is where we have learned to revert back to a simpler way of doing things.
