Ground Beef and Broccoli that is full of flavor and comes together in minutes. Use ground beef and Korean-inspired sauces and spices to create this easy weeknight dinner.
Korean-Style Beef and Broccoli
I realize that this is not a traditional Korean dish, nor is it a traditional beef and broccoli recipe (here I use ground beef instead of flank steak or tenderloin). The flavors in this easy beef and broccoli recipe are Korean-inspired (sweet, spicy, earthy) and simplified for ease.
Ingredients in Ground Beef and Broccoli
For this recipe you will need to keep a few staple Asian sauces on hand. The good news is that they keep for a long time! For this recipe, you will need:
- Ground beef
- Soy sauce
- Hoisin sauce
- Brown sugar
- Ground ginger
- Garlic powder
- Broccoli
- Sesame seeds (optional)
I use ground ginger instead of fresh ginger root because I rarely have ginger root on hand. Occasionally I have some tucked away in my freezer after making homemade kimchi, but I prefer to simply use the ground ginger I keep stocked in my pantry for this recipe.
I also use a pinch of brown sugar to sweeten this dish instead of a more traditional pear juice or other fruit juice, like when making bulgogi. Again, the reason for that is because I wanted this easy beef and broccoli to be made with items I always have on hand.
This meat chopper tool makes it so easy to quickly break up ground beef! I prefer to use 80/20 or 90/10 beef in this recipe.
Easy Beef and Broccoli
When dealing with such small amounts of these ingredients (and when cooking for multiple kids), I don't mind occasionally sacrificing the traditional ingredients for ones more readily available, especially when they hardly taste second best. This flavorful dish comes together in minutes and is even better the next day. Trust me!
What to Serve with Beef and Broccoli
Make a batch of super easy Instant Pot Sticky Rice and don't forget the kimchi or ssamjang to help punch up the heat. I like to top my ground beef and broccoli bowls with crushed red pepper flakes and a squeeze of Sriracha for extra spice.
